This module covers what’s required from the moment a new student selects you as their instructor — starting with the welcome email.
The welcome email — required, not optional
When you’re matched with a new student, a welcome email is required. The most important thing it must do: ask the student to reply with their phone number. Tunelark doesn’t collect phone numbers directly — testing showed it caused students to abandon sign-up. So this falls to you. Without a phone number, you have no way to reach them if there’s a connection issue on the day of their trial.
A strong welcome email also introduces you warmly, confirms you’re looking forward to their lesson, and references their instrument or learning goals if you know them from their profile.
The trial lesson is your highest-stakes lesson
Tunelark invests over $200 to place each student with a teacher. Students who have a seamless first lesson continue at significantly higher rates. Never cancel or reschedule a trial unless it’s a genuine emergency — and if a student wants to reschedule, do everything you can to keep the original slot.
Student privacy from day one
Never ask for or store contact information beyond what’s needed for the lesson. Do not solicit reviews for use outside Tunelark. Do not share student information with third parties.
